I'm down with the demonstrators' basic notion that things are seriously out of whack in this economy. Why should financial institutions bailed out by taxpayers reap huge profits and executives collect obscene bonuses while common folk lose their homes, their healthcare and their jobs?
But I'm having trouble seeing how a camp-out is going to change anything. Sure, it was great to gather and make the point loud and clear, but now what?

"The beauty of this is that it's a leaderless movement," said John Quigley, the guy who spent more than two months in an oak tree in Santa Clarita. "The challenge is, 'How do you get things done?' "
If not a specific leader, at least some leadership would help. If you don't have a specific goal, why would you ever achieve anything? The time has past to get off the lawn and start actually working within the system. The complaints are fine. I share them. But this "political/social/economic movement" is about as significant as a bowel movement. It's a joke or an embarrassment. Take your pick.

The organization is leaderless for the simple reason there is no one singlular cause they're fighting for. They just "want" whatever it is they don't have right now. It may be a job, a house they've never had or a house they've lost in the housing crisis. These are just angry people who think they'll bring about change - but what kind of change they want is unclear. They just "want whatever it is they don't have right now." NEWSFLASH : There are plenty of things I have wanted, still want and I recognize that due to the economy I'm not getting what I want. I'm not taking to the streets like a spoiled child, protesting. GRANTED : Protests often work if they have a specific cause in mind. Such as : The right for women to vote in USA. Those protests and marches worked. Equality for African Americans and their right to vote: that worked !! I've made my point.
